Power steering assist cut out while driving and traction controllight came on. There is now no steering assist. The vehicle suffers from severe, unresolvable electrical failures causing recurring loss of propulsion, shifting lockouts (No Driving Conditions / stuck in Park), complete exterior lighting failures, and loss of communication with the Restraints Control Module (RCM) and airbag impact sensors. The primary failure involves short circuits, open circuits, poor terminal contact, and thermal damage with melted, charred wiring and exposed copper in the main harness[cite: 6]. On May 25, 2026, OnStar…

2017 CHEVROLET BOLT EV

Steering is binding, does not return to center when turning, it has play in the steering, and rattles and shakes when driving in the highway. Dealer said it needs a steering shaft replacement. The car has been doing this since it had less than 50k miles. There were no warning lamps or messages. Since this is steering, it is dangerous and puts others at risk. The steering binding is a safety issue, and if left along long enough it might fully bind up causing an accident, and also reduces my…

The contact stated that the failure had occurred on two separate occasions while being overtaken by another vehicle on the passenger’s and driver’s sides. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer to be inspected; however, no cause for the…

2027 CHEVROLET BOLT EV

Filed Jul 17, 2026

The main infotainment screen provides the critical safety rear view display screen for the rear view camera. This is a legally required function for this vehicle, a 2027 Chevrolet Bolt RS. The failure of the screen means that a clear view towards the back of the vehicle is unavailable. Reversing without the display is hazardous and may result in hitting an object, animal, or person. Online Chevrolet customer service suggested a soft reset. This did not solve the problem. The problem has been…

2023 CHEVROLET BOLT EV

Filed Jul 1, 2026

While driving a 2023 Chevrolet Bolt during a turn maneuver, one of the two bolts (nearest the driver) holding the lower control arm (to the vehicle on the front driver side) sheared completely. An inspection of the joint suggests a fatigue failure likely due to inadequate factory assembly clamping force (pretension). Because the joint lacked the required factory torque, the joint interface slipped under normal operational loads, shifting cyclic shear and bending forces directly onto the bolt…
